What we check
Hard skills match
Tools, methods and certifications the role asks for.
Soft skills
Shown through results, not just listed.
Job title alignment
Whether the target title appears in your resume.
Formatting errors
Tables, columns and graphics that break parsing.
Action verbs
Strong verbs instead of “responsible for”.
Quantified achievements
Numbers that make bullets believable.
Why resumes fail ATS
Search first
Recruiters filter applicants by keywords and titles. Missing terms mean you don't appear in results.
Parsing errors
Columns, tables and text boxes can scramble the order of your content or drop sections.
The “75%” myth
The popular claim that 75% of resumes are never seen comes from a 2012 vendor statement with no published data. We focus on what's verifiable.

ATS checker FAQ
What is an ATS?
An applicant tracking system is software employers use to collect, store, search and rank job applications. Examples include Workday, Greenhouse, Lever and Taleo.
What is a good ATS score?
A keyword match of 70% or more against the job ad is the minimum you should aim for, 80% is good, and 90% is excellent. Below 50% usually means core skills from the ad are missing from your resume.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Add the missing hard skills you genuinely have, use the exact job title where it is true, write acronyms and full forms, and use a single-column layout with standard headings.
Can a Canva resume pass ATS?
Rarely. Designs built from text boxes, icons and multi-column layouts often parse out of order or lose content. Use a single-column, text-based template and test the exported file before applying.
Does ATS read PDF or DOCX better?
DOCX is the safest choice. Modern ATS also read text-based PDFs well — the ones to avoid are scanned or image-based PDFs, which parsers cannot read at all.
Is this ATS checker really free?
Yes. The instant keyword check runs in your browser with no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded until you choose to use the AI tools.
Does a high ATS score guarantee an interview?
No. It means your resume is easy to find and read. A human still decides, so clear achievements matter as much as keywords.
